Here at Sophie’s Stars we know that exercise can be hugely powerful mentally and physically in a cancer diagnosis. There is increasing evidence that exercise is beneficial in improving treatment outcomes and reducing cancer related fatigue. Star Fit is a group exercise class designed specifically for people who have cancer. Not only does it help your body and your mind, but it builds a community of people that are facing similar treatment protocols and side effects.
Star Fit is completely free and takes place weekly at The Xcel Leisure Centre in Walton on Thames. What is Star Fit and what should i expect?
Star Fit is a group exercise class for anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer and receiving active treatment.
You will be exercising in a small group class. The class will be mixed ability and the exercises can be individually tailored. There will be stations with instructions at each station, and you will rotate around all stations. If required, you can conduct the exercise in sitting and can have regular breaks. There will be instructors who are trained in cancer rehabilitation leading the sessions.

How do i take part?
People are able to self-refer into the Star Fit service. You should speak to your medical team or GP about joining the exercise class download the form from the link below, complete and email back to us at info@sophiesstars.co.uk. The form enables us to understand a bit about your cancer and ensure that you are medically fit to exercise. Everyone will undergo a screening assessment before starting the class, to allow us to measure your baseline fitness. We can then watch your improvement over time.

What should you wear?
Please wear clothes that you are comfortable moving in. This could be jogging bottoms or shorts and a t shirt. Please bring a bottle of water with you.
